You can't see a rainbow until you've experienced a rain storm. You would not appreciate joy until you have experienced adversity. Let adversity be your teacher. Embrace the lessons you have been given. These lessons enable and encourage your growth and your growth enhances your joy. Another way to look at it is that you can't grow a fine garden without plenty of fertilizer.
